“Halftones” Design Theme

The "Halftones" designs added a unique design twist to give Hostbaby members a little custom graphic treatment without having to do anything special. Since the member's graphics incorporated into the design are placed in the stylesheet, we can dictate an acceptable size, and in this case, place a partially transparent gif image over the top of their graphic.

The series demonstrates the power of color in relation to the design. The same design framework can be made to look dramatically different just be chosing a light color scheme or a dark color scheme.

Another very unique feature is the use of the navigation links to also work as the main page heading. In these examples, the “NEWS” heading is actually pulled out of its regular location within the navigation and restyled to also serve as the heading between the navigation and the first paragraph.

Due to the general feel for the design, only a horizontal navigation was created. Additional design selections were created by providing for both portrait and landscape orientation of the main page photo.

As in the other designs, all graphic, link, and hover effects for navigation are controlled through the cascading stylesheets. No javascript effects or on page graphics are possible.
