Equi-Shine

Created a clean, crisp look by minimizing the use of extra images to one consistently placed secondary image on every page. Several of the images used were sourced and modified for the site. Main focus was then placed on the product images.

Simplified the navigation system to basic sections, creating a clean left hand vertical navigation with CSS rollover and locater effects. Internal pages also incorporate a sub-navigation with similar characteristics.

Developed screen version and printer version stylesheets. Rather than developing duplicate content pages, only one additional file was created, the CSS for printing, which controls the layout and appearance of the printed page.

Printer friendly CSS allows far greater control of the output, to ensure that part of the content doesn't get cut off. The CSS also allows us to hide non-essential items for printing, such as the navigation and sub-navigation and non-essential images. While this printed version of the home page differs in appearance from the screen version, we have maintained the integrity of the information contained on the home page.

The product pages feature thumbnail images with a small hover-over image above and to the left of the product image. The bucket illustrates the enlarged view during hover. Rather than using special javascript programming, the hover enlargement is controlled via CSS.

Doctor's Choice Supplements primarily sells through distributors, but do provide online direct purchasing for customers who do not have a local distributor. Based on fairly simple e-commerce needs, we opted to utilize PayPal as a one-stop solution that allows the processing of orders, notification of new orders, ability to print UPS shipping labels, track shipping & easily communicate shipping information to the customer, as well as low order processing fees. This greatly simplified and consolidated order processing compared to the previous cart system.

The FAQ section was a new addition to the site and will serve several purposes. The FAQ will provide Doctor's Choice Supplements customers a resource to learn more about the Equi-Shine products, uses, and general equine related issues. This also provides a more interactive element to the site and encourages visitors to return to the site for more information. The FAQ section also serves to aid in the sites indexing by search engines by tapping into the needs and interests of visitors and serving up keyword rich content.

The FAQ section provides a javascript & CSS hide and reveal functionality which allows visitors to see all of the questions, reveal individual answers, reveal all the answers at once, and hide selected answers or all answers. This allows the visitor to stay right on the FAQ page. The javascript degrades nicely for users whose browsers are unable to handle javascript or for users who have turned off javascript handling. For those instances, all answers are automatically revealed.

Another new addition to the site was the creation of downloadable product information sheets in PDF format. A complete eCatalog was created, featuring all of the products as well as a nutritional guidelines table.

A single PDF page was created for each of the individual products to provide visitors with the ability to download only those sheets that are of interest.
