Build Your Own Blues festival is 105.5 Triple M's replacement to the Annual Madison Blues Festival. As festivals go, Build Your Own Blues is unique because it incorporates various venues, all over Madison. A unique festival that allows blues fans to “build” their own blues lineup, choosing from various performers and locations to create their personal blues experience, was the perfect event for a website that also allowed the visitor to select from various themes, creating their own blues web experience.

Even before concepting started, we assisted Triple M with the domain name. They had already acquired a couple domain names, however we checked availability of a few other choices, and finally recommended one of the additional names we identified, “BuildYourOwnBlues.com”. We felt this was a better alternative and ended up being the domain used for the site.

The main, default website theme, directly incorporating the BYOB logo colors.
BYOB, being a sponsored event, presented unique challenges. Unlike a more traditional website, BYOB had to incorporate several sponsor logos. Special care and attention was required in the handling of the logos. Some logos were fully enclosed, while others were open to the background on which they were placed. A solid white background was used on all themes for the logos for best presentation.
Performers page.
Photos feature a png, alpha transparency drop shadow for extra affect. This was needed due to the various backgrounds used on different themes. Special filters were required to allow the transparency to work on Internet Explorer. Nothing is required of the visitor as the filtering is implemented in page creation.
Schedule page.
Here you can see special highlighting as a user moves their mouse over each performer's listing. Users could select performances they wanted to see. They could choose a performance as a must see, which would be un-selected if they choose another performance during that time slot. They could also select as many other performances that they would like to see. A button at the bottom of the schedule would print the schedule. They could also reset the schedule form at anytime.
Photos page.
A photos section was created after the event. Several photos of performers and BYOBers helped to capture this unique event.
Locations map page.
A special interactive Google map was created for the event. This was especially useful as the performances were located all over Madison. Some were known venues, but others were simply stages created around donwtown. Users could pull up a specific location, zoom in or out, and even drag the map around to view.

The listeners could easily scroll through and find all the details on times, locations, and bands they needed. The website was informative and creative, and Identity Developments made changes on a day to day basis for us. We could not recommend a more highly qualified web development organization.
